Save Me

Save Me by Remy Zero: I’m listening to the song almost the whole night and it makes me remember some episodes of Smallville. Remy Zero got that so powerful voice and the lyrics could sum up what I was feeling 2 months ago. Yes, a little crazy huh? Posting some stuff that was actually related to how you felt months ago; because building a bright future and engaging yourself to paper works are stressful, the only thing that was in my head, Save Me.

It’s June already. Therefore, there’s more to consider and there’s more to work hard on (harder than the previous ones, maybe). A lot of thoughts are coming into me lately, subtle. I don’t want to suffer on a certain turmoil, I know I should stop thinking too much ’cause thoughts like these can make me bewildered. Might as well, enjoy the remaining days of my vacation.

Save Me | Remy Zero
I feel my wings have broken in your hands
I feel the words unspoken inside
When they pull you under
And I would give you anything you want
Well all I wanted
All my dreams have fallen down
Crawling around somebody save me
And two warm hands break right through me
Somebody save me
I don’t care how you do it
Just stay
Stay
Come on
I’ve been waiting for you
I see the world has folded in your heart
I feel the waves crash down inside
And they pull me under
I would give you anything you want
Well all I wanted

All my dreams have fallen down
Crawling around somebody save me
And two warm hands break right through me
Somebody save me
I don’t care how you do it
Just stay
Stay
Come on
I’ve been waiting for you

And all my dreams are on the ground
Crawling around somebody save me
And two warm hands break right through me
Somebody save me
I don’t care how you do it
Just save me

I’ve made this whole world shine for
Just stay
Come one
I’m still waiting for you

Battered Woman: Why Don’t They Just Leave?

Photo from Google Images

Violence against women is a problem of international proportions, and nowhere is a woman in greater danger than in her own home. Tragedy of the violence extends beyond the physical and emotional injuries of woman. That with these aspects, children were also affected and also formed and showed some tendency of being battered. That is why children witnessing this situations in their own families has the tendency to be violent and portray what they saw, believing that these are the right things to do. According to some researches, boys who have witnessed their fathers beating their mothers are actually 24 times more likely to commit sexual assault than are boys with non violent fathers and 74% more likely to commit violent crimes in general. These individuals who witness their mother being battered are six times more likely to commit suicide and the girls are more likely to engage in teenage prostitution.

Inspite of all those violence and injuries that women are actually facing, the hanging question is, “Why does SHE stay?” and we begin to ask more contrary to the first one, “Why should a woman and her children have to leave in order to protect themselves and achieve peace?” Perhaps, you might say because of love, memories, concern for the children, foolishness and many other forms. Depending to what principle that they stand for. But on historical perspective,

“A dog, a wife and a cherry tree, the more ye beat them the better they be.”

Women should learn how to protect themselves and should know how to say stop when they had already enough of this violence. Battered women are considered strong but they just don’t have enough guts to leave and speak up for what they want, not because they are scared or afraid but because they are brave to face all of this trials for their family (most of the time). For those who already leave home for a new life is the perfect decision. Each woman don’t deserve an animal kind treatment that in fact, animal should be treated right also.

Nowadays, women are not anymore considered as inferior than men. They have attained the level of balanced and in reality speaking, women today are dominating. They could freely speak up for themselves, stand up for their rights, fight for the improvement and reach the point that they are being knowledgeable than men.

Today, there are no place for women inferiority anymore, those days are over. Women are brave, can fight and lead.
Yes Women, we can! Say NO to violence, women should be respected. Women should be loved.

Talking About Self – Esteem

Photo from Google Images

Why do some people have a high self-esteem and others low? Maybe because of a good interaction with other people or the place they lived in and many other circumstances involved. As we discussed about the Self-Esteem Theory in class, it also reflects that having low self-esteem is not just about being shy or discreet but also being insecure and telling false stories about other people, just a sign that they are not capable of accepting their own self, that’s why they are making false information just to have something to talk about, maybe they can gain some acceptance from others, turning other people down to attain self-fulfillment.

When I was in high school, I’ve been bullied by my classmates, specifically one group of girls whom I used to be friends just before hand. They will always tell false stories about me and thinking that I’m a drama queen at class because I’ve been too quiet for sometime due to family related problems and sometimes I just don’t feel like talking to anyone, going through a self-discovery and self personality building at early times. There was a time when our teacher assigned a group work and I was actually grouped with them, as we do the work I could feel that they don’t really like me, they don’t want to be with me or even talk to me and they would just laugh behind my back. They would tell others that I’m so irritating, they don’t want to be friends with me and I’m not a really good friend at all, the false stories even reached other sections and passed from one person to another with additional false information. I felt like I was not deserving to have friends, so I did stuff alone, engaged myself into music, some art, films and Batman related things. If Batman can live alone and do things in a tactful way, why can’t I? I winded it up just like what he did. Less talk, less fight. Even when I verbalize something or not, people will still say something not so nice about me, they are fond of making judgments without really even knowing what’s going through with the person they are whining up. But that’s one part of reality; we couldn’t force everyone to show relish on us, considering that we have different choices and preferences.

My teacher even talked to me about it, telling me that what I’m doing like being silent about the issue, not having fights with those girls and doing my work well were just the right things to do. I learned with those devastating words that I should remain discreet and not to care at all, because I can’t please everybody anyway. As long as I know that I’m not stepping into someone and I’m not turning anyone down, I’m fine with it. Apparently, I had low self confidence because of that experience, but just so I thought that being humble or showing great humility is indeed the having the highest self-esteem. Helping myself to build up personality efficiency that can help me to believe that I can overcome obstacles or challenges and I can achieve my goals in life.

Natural Causes

I finally got a new book to read and explore, this Natural Causes book is all about death, lies and politics in America’s Vitamin and Herbal Supplement Industry which I think could also help us, especially now that we, Filipinos are having a great deal to those herbal medicines, which we thought could really help. This book discusses those stories behind different herbal medicines but not really informing or persuading (just what i have reflected) everybody to stop using those, of course, on a majority basis it’s advantageous, cheaper and more natural. Well, it’s up to us if we will continue having those supplements.

It’s really interesting and a wow. And yeah right, nowadays we are so concern about health, that’s why most of us are being so conscious about everything, we even patronize ready-to-drink tea instead of drinking softdrinks, herbal powders and medicines, natural way of curing and many other forms. To gain more knowledge and information, this Natural Causes book is really recommendable. I’ll write a more intense review about this book (i’m not yet done reading it).

Tagaytay Fun

April 2, 2011

My friends and I decided to give Tagaytay a blast since that we were not able to see and be in touched with one another for so long due to works and different activities. So we left Manila at around 3:30pm and went straight to Tagaytay, we arrived there at around 4:45pm; the best part of the road trip was the flashbacks of what had happened before and updates about our lives now. We laughed and made fun of ourselves and we kept on reminiscing about the moments we had, very nostalgic.

Taal Lake

Here’s a photo of Taal Lake featuring some fogs, very beautiful and all you could say is wow (I love lomo shots so it happened that the photo is on a lomo state). By the way, Tagaytay is one place that I can recommend to everyone, you can enjoy the whole view and have at least a break from all the pollutions from Manila plus the weather is really good and cold (hehe) so don’t forget to bring your sweaters or jackets.

Tagaytay Zipline

The Yabhies (Emil and Hanna – boyfriend & girlfriend) tried the Tagaytay Zipline and they enjoyed it. I wasn’t able to try it because I’m to scared to go through a long and high rope with just harness on, I know its actually safe but it’s still scary for me. After we strolled around the Picnic Grove we went straight to the souvenir shop, and bought some pasalubong then drove around to find some restaurant for us to have our dinner. We found Bali Restaurant which offers also a KTV, the food was great and the waiters were really accommodating and nice. After eating, we went all the way to Starbucks to have some coffee and more chits and chats, we spent the rest of the night there laughing and having a little debate about everything. Warning: The coldness there wasn’t really a joke, we were freezing to death.

So to end, we left Tagaytay at around 12 midnight and by 1:30 am we were finally home. It was a really fun fun day!

I really couldn’t tell the story smoothly (hahaha), ’cause I’m too excited about everything 😛  Have a superb day!

MMDA: To ease the traffic

Photo from Google Images

This is my first blog post for 2011 and I just want to hit a good news to start the year right. We (Filipinos) know that the traffic here in Metro Manila is not a joke, we can be stranded or stuck up on the road for long hours because of the severe traffic. I sometimes blame the government or the MMDA about these incidents in the road that I’m getting stuck into a traffic and will not be able to make it on time for whatever appointment i have. But as I was browsing some good news about the government today, this MMDA thing amused me.

Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), is planning to construct roundabouts or rotondas, in those strategic locations all over the metro. They are proposing and implementing long-term and short-term solutions to address the traffic congestion, more specifically on the areas where there are too many road obstructions. It also said that they will increase the travel time and they will also decongest the major roads.

MMDA will definitely start or put this newly proposed plan and they are planning also to construct nine roundabouts to the six pilot cities namely Julia Vargas-Meralco Avenue and Redemptorist-Quirino Avenue-Taft Avenue intersections.

It’s going to be so good especially for the commuters, I really do hope for a great ease on the road about this plan and I hope that constructing this roundabouts will not totally add up to the severe traffic that we are facing now. I’m looking forward to a traffic-free Metro Manila. Superb! It’s nice to hear some good news this new year.

Thank you so much, 2010

2010 is almost over, this latter part of December I’m really excited about the upcoming year, new life ahead, new experiences and new lessons to learn, but as I go on with this last day, I’m having second thoughts. If I will be given a chance to go back to a certain year in my life, I’ll definitely choose the year 2010. I’ve grown through my 2010 experiences, mistakes and all the people who shared their lives with me.

Mistakes and lessons are the big things that made me a better person. Although there has been rough times and rocky roads, but the end point is 2010 had the capability to balance it. I love how the year gave me a blast of happiness. Reminiscing memories are fun to do but on the other hand it makes me sad too, I can’t believe that time just passed by so fast and I know deep inside me that I’m not yet ready to kiss 2010 good bye. Just so I thought that I’m excited by 2011 there’s something within me that’s backing off, it’s kinda weird to feel this way but I know the best is yet to come and hopefully 2011 will be good.

It’s really not good celebrating special occasions alone, during the afternoon of the 22nd of April, I felt like I’m a different person that needed to face the new challenges in life, I realized by that very moment that I need to be extra strong just to fulfill what’s really my goal and what God wants me to pursue. Friends that come and go, love that’s been good for me for the first phase and the places that gave me a lot of things to cherish, to remember and surely i won’t forget.

Trials that made me cry, feelings that i can’t control and weaknesses that needed to be shown. People who understood me, shared their feelings, opinions, time and love, laughters and tears of joy, experiences and even sad tears.

Thank you so much 2010, If I will have a time machine I will go back to you and feel your goodness and love for me. Thank you.

CSDA: Cyber Space Display of Affection

Photo from Google Images
PDA, Public Display of Affection, define couples who are intimate, sweet or expressive about their feelings for each other in public places. Hugging, kissing, holding hands and many other gestures in public without having any hesitations of what other people might think or feel. Same with CSDA, Cyber Space Display of Affection, the difference is… you do it online or in cyberspace, and of course with the use of internet. Not the literal way showing or expressing intimate feelings but through uploaded photos and videos on your social networking accounts like facebook, twitter, tumblr, myspace and many other social networking sites. Same with posting “I Love You” messages, comments, tags and tweets to each other.
To those who are internet bum and are into relationships, this CSDA is one way of expressing to the internet world about their feelings with each other and how they are perfectly experiencing happiness with their partners. One great example is making their photo together as their Facebook profile picture and posting “I Love You” messages wall-to-wall.
In line with the CSDA, there are also social networking users who are not really into expressing their feelings through cyberspace. Others are getting little irritated to see their friend’s account having a lot of “i love you” messages in the news feed. According to some users they are really not “bitter” or somewhat “haters” of these messages, in fact, in some ways they find it really sweet and it even shows how proud their friends are by expressing or publishing these posts to the whole cyber/internet world, what makes them irritated is that they see these posts, messages, tags, photos, videos etc. each and every minute.
Furthermore, they just want those CSDAs to lessen the display of affection or just keep it private through chat or personal messages.
It’s really given that these messages or posts are somewhat irritating for some time, but who are we to interfere? Let’s just let them express their love for each other and enjoy the sweet messages that we are reading. Spread the Love CSDAs 🙂

Let the Flames Begin

Josh and Zac Farro statement about their controversial exit from the band Paramore and their opinion about the blog posted by Hayley Williams.

Let me start by apologizing to you for the way everything went down on Saturday.  I had a statement typed ready to post to you guys but Hayley released one without my permission.  We were not going to issue a statement until we worked out our exit agreement with Hayley.  I wish it didn’t have to happen that way, Zac and I wanted to be the ones you heard it from.  I want to be honest with you guys about how this band formulated from day one. I did not think Hayley’s version told the whole story, at least from our perspective and hopefully this will explain a bit about why we are leaving.
Zac and I had a garage band in high school with the intentions of just making music for the love of it. We met Taylor and our friend Jason Clark at our school and found out that we shared the same musical tastes.  So, we asked them to join our band. It was some of the greatest times of our lives playing music in Taylor’s basement with them.  We obviously needed a lead singer and one day Zac met Hayley.  We asked her to come try out and eventually to join the band.
Months down the road things changed and this band became all about Hayley. She had a manager at the time that controlled her every move along with her parents. They didn’t like the idea of Hayley being in a rock band so they forced her to leave wanting her to pursue a solo career.
Hayley went off to write and record her solo demos while the four of us continued on without her.  A couple of months later Hayley came and asked us if she could use the song “Conspiracy” that we had all previously written together.  We agreed that that would be fine.  I got a call a while after that from Hayley telling me that her manager said that Zac and I were invited to be back in the band (the band we started), but not Taylor and Jason because they weren’t good enough in his eyes. Hayley brought in Jeremy and our first rhythm guitarist Jason Bynum as the other two members.
We travelled to LA a few weeks later for a showcase and it was a nightmare.
Hayley’s manager would tell the band to be in the lobby of the hotel at a certain time, but he and Hayley wouldn’t show for hours.  We found out that they had been meeting with record label executives all morning without us, which is totally weird given that this wasn’t simply a solo artist, but we were a band. The band was in the dark the whole time.  After many meetings between Hayley, her manager and the labels they decided to sign her to Atlantic records. We didn’t understand why Hayley was the only one signing the contract since we were told this was a “band”, but we were too young to grasp all of this.  So far, Zac and I haven’t signed with another label, although I guess our part of Paramore sure could. Next thing we knew we were having a signing party for Hayley.
Our next move was to rerecord her solo demos with our own music rather than studio musicians to make it sound more genuine. Meanwhile, we tossed around band names. I wrote out a list of names, including “Paramore”, a name my old band with Taylor and Jason Clark had thought about using. Obviously, we settled on that name. The label received the rerecorded demos and once again tried to fire the entire band, saying we were terrible. Thankfully Hayley and I had been writing some new songs together (Hallelujah, Here We Go Again) that the label was pleased with so that acted as leverage for the band to stay. The label and management then decided to build our band up the grass-roots route. They put Hayley on Fueled by Ramen not making it known she was signed to Atlantic as well. All the while we still questioned whether or not we were an actual band, but Hayley continued to insist we were, despite our being ignored and pushed around by the label.
They then sent us all to Orlando to rehearse and write eight hours a day for our first record. Half -way though this process, Jeremy decided to quit.  We were all really upset about it. So we finished the record, replaced Jeremy, and hit the road with Hayley’s father as our tour manager/driver of a twelve-passenger van. Her dad would constantly threaten to “pull the plug” on the whole band if we complained about anything, suggesting that we were hired guns and Hayley was the real artist, when in reality we were also part of the band. We’ve always been treated as less important than Hayley. It’s been obvious how her family views things.
Jeremy ended up rejoining and we toured non-stop for two and half years building our fan base, pretending to be a band that started naturally. In reality, what started as natural somehow morphed into a manufactured product of a major label, riding on the coattails of “Hayley’s dream.”
Before recording our next record, we kicked out Jeremy for his lack of work ethic and participation in things that Zac, Hayley and I didn’t agree with.  At this point it was just the three of us to record Riot. Once the record was done, we needed a bassist and another guitarist. Eventually Zac and I convinced Hayley to let Taylor rejoin and she convinced us to let Jeremy back in, promising he had changed his ways. Once again we hit the road and toured on our biggest record as a band. As you all know Hayley and I dated and broke up during this album cycle. Things then started going downhill for our band. Hayley and Jeremy’s views started changing from what we all once believed in. The band almost split after cancelling a tour in Europe, but we managed to keep it together somehow. This is when Zac and I started to consider quitting the band.
Once we finished touring on Riot, we came home for a break and started writing for Brand New Eyes. Hayley presented lyrics to us that were really negative and we didn’t agree with. For example, “the truth never set me free”, which contradicts what the Bible says in John 8:32 (“and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall sat you free”). We fought her about how her lyrics misrepresented our band and what we stood for, but in the end she got her way. Instead of fighting her any longer, we decided to just roll over and let it go.
Hayley claimed that this record reunited us as band and made us grow closer together, when in reality we were all growing further apart. Suddenly the band had spilt into two sides. Touring became more difficult since we couldn’t agree on anything. The friendships our band once had were no longer existent. Amos 3:3 says, “Can two people walk together without agreeing on the direction”.  In addition to the band turmoil, touring had really taken its toll on us both. We left home at such a young age and missed taking part in normal teenage years.  When you own part of a band and are constantly playing, you make sacrifices.
Touring has taken its toll on our family members as well. I specifically remember many moments where our parents would break down in tears when we had to leave. It broke my heart. Seeing our siblings grow up so much during our absences was never easy either.
After a lot a prayer and counsel Zac and I came to the decision that it was time to leave the band. We truly feel that God is leading us elsewhere and is going to do great things with us. The intention of this statement was not to belittle or disgrace the rest of the band, it was simply to clarify our decision for leaving and our desire to finally tell you guys the truth.  We are still hoping to work out a friendly way to leave our part of Paramore intact with the remaining band members, including Hayley.
We want to thank you guys for all of your love and support over the past 7 years. It’s been an honor creating and playing music for you. If music is what God calls us to in the future, we hope that you all will be a part of it.
All of the glory be to God,
Josh and Zac
